After completing my Maths and Engineering degree in Edinburgh and the United States, I worked as a computer programmer in Switzerland. I started my teaching career in 1997 at Sandfields Comprehensive, Port Talbot,Wales, as a maths teacher. In 1999 I became a subject leader and later became the whole school ICT co-ordinator. In 2008 I joined the Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for Welsh Baccalaureate, skills, tracking pupils and mentoring. In 2013 I moved to Glan Afan Comprehensive in the same town where I was Assistant Headteacher for Curriculum and Teaching & Learning. In November 2015 I became an MIE Expert. My most recent appointment was to Head of Upper School of Ysgol Bae Baglan, a new 3-16 state through school. As well as leading the Upper School, I have responsibility for e-learning across the school.
Besides technology and education, my most obsessive pass time is in building my family tree. With over 4000 people now in the tree, some relations are very far removed. I am drawn to researching ancestry because as well as presenting the challenge of a never ending puzzle, there is the interest created by learning about the lives of the real people that created my history and the opportunity that gives to connect with them on a human level.
